Turkey meets Braamfontein
Owner of the Galata Bakery & Coffee Shop, Savas Daskan, visited a few African countries before deciding to settle in Johannesburg, in March last year. We're glad he chose Jozi as the spot for his Turkish bakery and deli, which opened earlier this year. If you find yourself in Braam with a bit of an appetite, try out the pogaca (cheese or chocolate-filled pastry), or grab a simit (a Turkish bagel).
