#doDifferent to Fight Fire

At this time of year in the Western Cape, there is a persistent risk of wildfires breaking out on mountains and fields. These fires can get out of control very quickly and are devastating for the people and animals unfortunate to find themselves in their path. It takes a brave and dedicated group of professional and volunteer firefighters risking their lives to fight wildfires and protect lives and homes.

These brave women and men need all the help they can get, and this week we look at Cape Brewing Company, a brewery choosing to #doDifferent and help where they can.

We have looked at Cape Brewing Company (CBC) previously for a campaign they had undertaken to support workers who had lost their incomes during the Covid-19 alcohol bans, but a cause as good as this means their name bears repeating. Based in Paarl, CBC are one of the oldest and most respected names in the South African craft beer market. Their German-inspired beers are regular award winners and they are consistently voted as one of the top breweries in the country.

This summer, CBC launched their Firefighters Lager, a special edition beer dedicated to the volunteer firefighters who every year answer the call to help fight fires in the Western Cape. Ten percent of all proceeds from the sale of this beer are donated to the volunteer firefighters to assist them in their efforts to protect lives, homes, and the environment at this time of year.

Donations like these go a long way in supporting these firefighters as they tackle unpredictable blazes and support those affected by the fires.

So, when you are choosing a nice refreshing beer for these hot summer days, why not choose to #doDIfferent and buy a beer that supports the firefighters who selflessly serve when called upon in an emergency.
