#doDifferent to Beat Cancer
Women are one of the strongest and most fierce beings to have walked this earth. Unfortunately, that strength is often tested. One in every 28 women in South Africa will get breast cancer over their lifetime.
Through the Avon Foundation For Women, Avon (the international cosmetics company) has done a lot of excellent work in South Africa. They have chosen to #doDifferent by aiding in the battle against breast cancer and gender-based violence.

The Avon Foundation For Women operates and supports programs that primarily benefit women. Their thought is that a better world for women is a better world for everyone. Since 1955, they have been able to contribute over $1 Billion to causes that support women - with the best example being the annual Avon Justine iThemba Walkathon, the largest breast cancer walk in the Avon world consisting of over 50 participating countries. The walk is aimed at generating awareness of breast cancer and its dangers, which includes equipping South African women with key educational material that will encourage them to go for regular breast screenings, potentially saving countless lives.
A supporting campaign to the walk and other causes is the newly launched "Avon Pin for Purpose" campaign that is aimed at raising funds to support breast cancer and GBV. The two pins - one for breast cancer and the other for GBV - are sold at only R95 each and 100% of the profits are donated to local charities. By purchasing a pin, supporters may display their dedication to these causes while also making a tangible difference. Avon South Africa has partnered with numerous South African charities who are beneficiaries of the walk and proceeds from the pins for maximum impact. These charities include the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), Wings of Hope, Journeysys and Look Good… Feel Better (LGFB).

Cancer has impacted all of us at some point, either personally or through a loved one. It can and should be beaten. We can all come together to #doDifferent and support Avon South Africa’s efforts to beat it by either signing up for the iThemba Walkathon, buying the Pin for Purpose or by supporting any of the many charities that they support.
