Beer Community Spirit and #doDifferent

Last week we shone a light on a craft brewery choosing to #doDifferent and support those in need as part of their survival efforts.

This week we look at another, despite being one of the industries hardest hit by the pandemic - and suffering through 5 months of alcohol bans during which they have not been able to trade. This is enough to destroy most businesses and the fact that some have survived speaks to the strength and resilience of these brewers. The fact that so many have still found the capacity to support those in need speaks to the community spirit engrained in the industry.

The Cape Brewing Company (CBC) is a pioneer and stalwart of the South African craft brewing community. They have built their brand around a commitment to quality and consistency and their beers regularly win awards at major competitions.

We have previously highlighted how many craft breweries have found ways to help their communities through the pandemic, despite themselves being under massive pressure. CBC is no different. They have seen the devastating effect the latest lockdown restriction has had on restaurant workers and have decided to include a support initiative in their own survival plan.

For the duration of level 4 lockdown restrictions, CBC were offering pre-sales of their beers, which were delivered to customers once restrictions are lifted. They have pledged to donate 20% of all sales made during this time to their Livelihoods Initiative. This money will be used to buy Checkers vouchers for 1000 registered restaurant staff to use for groceries, municipal bills, electricity and data.

In addition, CBC have made a R50 000 donation of their own to this initiative. These funds will make a massive difference to the lives of those who have been greatly affected by the pandemic.

So why not get in your beer orders now for delivery? By choosing to support a business who is actively helping others through your purchase you can #doDifferent here.
